The protein encoded by MED37E gene is a probable mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription subunit 37e. Component of the protein complex, a coactivator involved in the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. In cooperation with other chaperones, the protein stabilizes preexistent proteins against aggregation and mediates the folding of newly translated polypeptides in the cytosol as well as within organelles.
